Changes to AirYork wireless Network Access for Laptops on Campus

What is AirYork?

AirYork logo The AirYork service provides wireless network access on campus, allowing York students, faculty and staff to use their laptops at a number of designated locations across campus (see below). For complete information on using AirYork, including hardware and software you'll need, go to the CNS website: http://www.yorku.ca/ccsweb/airyork/ .

AirYork Service Changes

In August 2003, CNS launched AirYork v2.0. This new version of AirYork is designed to make the wireless network service easier to use. Version 2.0 will not require the use of VPN software to access the wireless network. Instead, people will use a web-based system to authenticate themselves and gain access to the network.

Note that while these changes to the wireless service will make it easier to use, you will need to use encrypted email to continue to protect the security of any information you transmit such as passwords or email messages.

See the AirYork web page for more details on the service changes.
