Welcome to the Peter F. Bronfman Business
Library
For the first time in York University's
history, there will be a library devoted entirely to
the support of business teaching and research. The business
books, which were formerly located on the fourth floor
of the Scott Library, and the business reference materials,
which were located in the now defunct Business and Government
Publications Library, have been combined to create the
new library.
The Peter F. Bronfman Business Library
will be opened in two stages. The first stage, now complete,
involved moving the staff, the Reserves collection,
the current periodicals, and the public workstations
to their new location on the second floor South Wing,
Room S237, of the new Schulich School of Business building
located at York Boulevard and Ian Macdonald Boulevard.
Reference service and some circulation services are
available.

The second phase involves
making the reference collection available and moving
the monographs and the bound periodicals from the
Scott Library to the Bronfman Business Library.
We expect this to happen in late September once
the east wing of the library is completed. In the
interim, limited study seating space will be available
for about 48 people in the group study rooms. After
the east wing is open, the six group study rooms
will be available for students to book. |

As with any library, the Peter F. Bronfman
Business Library is more than just a collection of print
materials. We also provide access to electronic resources
and our reference staff are specialists in business
research. In addition, we provide a place to study and
a place to relax. We will be initiating a number of
new services such as reference assistance from the librarians'
offices, conveniently located network drops, a wireless
network access area using the AirYork service, full
service circulation, a quiet room, and we are breaking
the food barrier. Now library patrons may bring cold
finger foods and drinks in spill-proof containers into
the library.
In creating this new library Elizabeth
Watson and staff worked closely with Dean Deszo Horvath
and Schulich School of Business faculty, Siamak Hariri
and architects from Hariri Pontarini Architects, Monica
Contreras and her team from York University's Facilities
Planning Department and York University Libraries staff
to create an innovative and welcoming space for you.
We invite you to visit us, but be forewarned
that as with any undertaking of this size, there is
a transition period. We hope to be fully operational
by the end of October. In the meantime we will do everything
we can to assist you. If you can't find it, please ask
us!
