ITC Continues to Improve Technology in Classrooms Across the Campus

Instructional Technology Centre staff has had a very busy summer coordinating and installing new classroom technologies in locations across the campus.

The biggest news this year? The classroom technology in nine new lecture halls, five seminar rooms, and 16 labs in the TEL building and in 11 lecture halls and all classrooms and seminar rooms in the new Seymour Schulich building.

TEL Labs, Lecture Halls and Seminar Rooms

Each of the TEL Building lecture halls includes two data projectors for display of images such as websites; a dual VGA PC, document camera with upper lamp to display pictures and text and lower lamp for transparencies; built in VHS and DVD players, audio cassette player, slide projector; and log on access for instructors.

The 16 TEL labs each have a PC, data projector, document camera, VHS, DVD and Log on access for instructors, in addition to the installed student workstations.

New this year are the five fully equipped TEL seminar rooms with built in data projector, VHS and DVD players and a PC computer, with log on access for instructors.

Schulich Lecture Halls

About 35 rooms in the new Seymour Schulich Building have been installed with identical lecture hall technology as above; and all classrooms and seminar rooms are equipped with a PC computer, data projector, VHS and DVD players - all with log on access. Each of the classrooms also has a document camera.

Continuing Upgrades

As part of continuing upgrades planned for in the CNS computing plan, 65 TVs and DVD / VHS units were installed in Founders, Vanier, BSB, CFA, Stong, Bethune, Kinsmen and York Hall classrooms. Technical upgrades were also made to six rooms in Stedman Lecture Halls, Curtis Lecture Halls I and L, Ross S137 and York Hall 129. The technology includes data projectors, a document camera, PC VHS and DVD players and log on access. Stedman D has also been wired for video teleconference.
