New IT Guidelines and Procedures now in place
A series of guidelines and procedures to govern
the management of computing accounts, the use of electronic
mail, and network security and management were approved in
Spring 2004. These guidelines and procedures may be accessed
at http://www.yorku.ca/secretariat/legislation/u_pol/computing_u_pol.htm
as addenda to the University Policy on Computing and Technology
Facilities, whose principles they supplement and clarify.
Here is a brief overview of each guideline/procedure document.

their intended purpose. They articulate the roles and responsibilities
of the various users and administrators of email resources,
define appropriate and inappropriate uses and procedures to
govern any authorized access or disclosure.
Network Security and Management
These guidelines and procedures are meant to
ensure the availability and security of the shared network
resources which support the University's learning, teaching
