Wireless and Laptop Computing

Wireless Network Now Available Throughout the Libraries

study areas in Scott Library

When you bring your own notebook computer to the Libraries this year, you won’t have to search for a wireless connection.

Access to the AirYork wireless network is now available in all of the Libraries, and this summer, we’ve extended it to cover all study areas in Scott Library.
For more information on the AirYork wireless network, see http://www.yorku.ca/computing/facultystaff/internet/airyork/index.html.

Wired connections

If you prefer to use a wired Ethernet (YorkNet) connection, there are many places to connect your computer in each of the Libraries.

Instructions for setting up and connecting to the YorkNet service can be found at http://www.yorku.ca/computing/facultystaff/internet/yorknet/index.html.

Borrow a Laptop Computer

You can borrow a laptop computer for use in the library for up to three hours at a time at the Scott, Steacie, Bronfman, and (soon) Frost Libraries. Just present your library card at the circulation desk (where you sign out books). To check availability, type in "laptop" as a title in the catalogue.

For detailed instructions on borrowing and using a notebook computer in the Libraries, see http://www.library.yorku.ca/ccm/FacilitiesAndEquipment/LaptopLending.htm.
