Using Web CT in Fall 2004? Talk to us!

IIf you are planning to use WebCT for web-based course management in Fall 2004, please initiate discussions with the Faculty Support Centre staff, or with your local WebCT support providers such as ATS in Arts, as soon as possible. The staff is most willing to help you prepare your web-based course material, but you will need to begin the process early to ensure completion for the start of Fall classes.

You can reach FSC staff at ext. 55800 or by email at faculty@yorku.ca.
ATS staff can be reached at ext. 33321 or by email at atstech@yorku.ca.

First Class to be discontinued in Summer 2005

Consider this an early alert: the First Class web-based course management system administered by CNS will be shut down in Summer 2005. WebCT, York's centrally supported web based course management system, is available now for course development. For more information on this year's WebCT upgrade and new features offered, see the article in the Fall 2003 edition of News U Can Use.

This means, of course, that if you are still using the First Class system you may wish to speak with the staff at the Faculty Support Centre or your local WebCT support technicians during the next few months about moving to WebCT. The staff can help you move your existing First Class courses over to the WebCT platform, or they will help you to design new formats in WebCT for your course content.

Please note that this change will not affect the Faculty of Education's First Class service.
