Email Courtesy Alert Notices

Faculty members and graduate students have always received alert notices two weeks before the expiry of their 100-day loan period for library items they have borrowed.

Now, the Libraries are preparing to go one better - to send all patrons, including faculty and graduate students, an email Courtesy Alert Notice two days before the due date of the item(s) charged out. This courtesy alert will be in addition to the usual Alert Notice sent two weeks before an item is due - a last-minute reminder for that library item that might still be hiding somewhere in a pile of other documents.

However, you can only take advantage of the new email Courtesy Alert Notice if you have provided your email address to the Libraries - so you might wish to join the more than 90% of library patrons who have already opted to receive library notices by email. There are three ways to do this:

  1. Access the library website at http://info.library.yorku.ca/yorkline/Email/email.htm and fill in the form to receive library notices by email instead of regular mail;
  2. Telephone the Libraries at 416-736-5181 to arrange for receipt of library notices by email;
  3. Go to the Circulation Desk in any of the York Libraries and speak to a staff member on the desk about receiving email library notices.
