A new drop in lab for students is now
open in the TEL Building. The lab is open Monday - Friday
9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
The facility has approximately 70 seats,
of which 45 are PCs and the rest are Macs. The new PCs
have flat screens and the Macs are recent models. The
lab offers printing at 9 cents per page and a scanner,
two tables with chairs for small group collaborative
work, and a nicely lit, comfortable and quiet environment.
All machines have Acadlabs access, and students use
the same logon as in some other areas such as the Computing
Commons Lab (William Small Centre) and Scott Library
workstations.
The lab has student monitors on duty,
who are available to answer questions about equipment
and software. Shortly, students who need help in using
various applications will be able to book one on one
peer coaching sessions with staff in the lab. The TEL
lab staff can also be booked to come to your class and
speak with students on topics such as using Passport
York to activate their computing services, using the
central computing labs, and so on.
Student monitors (l to r) Ami,
Shahza and Ata
The TEL Computing Commons is located
in the Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) Building,
