Will That be Coffee or Tea?

New market research databases you'll want to know about
Did you know that coffee commands a 63% market share in Canada as compared with a 23% market share for tea? Or that in the UK, the market share is almost equal: 48% tea and 43% coffee? And what about Japan, you ask…? Well, the trend is definitely toward the tea drinkers: 62% tea and 35% coffee.

How did we know this? By using Datamonitor Business Information Center, one of the newly acquired market research databases.

You can search this database to obtain full-text market research reports and more, including information on 10,000 companies and 2000 industries in 50 countries. The company information often includes SWOT analysis, top competitors, key employees (including biographies), and major products and services. You can get industry information for individual countries or a global overview. And in addition there are also country profiles which include some political and economic analysis, such as key economic indicators.

Another newly acquired market research database is Business Insights. More limited in scope than Datamonitor, Business Insights focuses on the following industries: business capabilities, consumer goods, energy, financial services, healthcare, human resources, and technology. In addition to the market research reports, it has unique features: for example, under human resources you will find a report on "positive approaches to staff retention" and under business capabilities is a report on "leadership".

And how does one begin to describe World Markets Research Centre? The title is somewhat misleading as it doesn't contain market research reports per se but rather provides data and text articles about countries worldwide. But the wealth of information you can obtain about a country is unrivalled in any other product to which York University Libraries subscribes. WMRC provides country analysis, risk and forecasts for 196 countries. Political, economic, regulatory, tax, security and general business conditions are covered in the individual country reports. In addition, macroeconomic forecasts are provided, as well as country and sovereign risk ratings. Information is updated regularly, even daily when conditions warrant it.

Getting up-to-date information on countries, markets and market research reports has never been easier. Have a look and we're sure you'll agree!
