What's New in eResources: Indexes and Abstracts

American Humanities Index
Covers more than 1,000 journals published from 1975 to the present, including many smaller journals and publications unavailable in other reference sources. Provides cover-to-cover indexing and abstracting of on-going journal content, including coverage of all original creative works, such as poetry and fiction.

Book Review Index
Finally, the entire backfile from 1965 to the present of this key reference tool is available online. Book Review Index provides quick access to reviews of books, periodicals, books on tape and electronic media representation a wide range of popular, academic and professional interests.

Environmental Issues & Policy Index
Offers coverage as far back as 1950 in applicable areas of agriculture, ecosystem ecology, energy, natural resources, marine & freshwater science, geography, pollution & waste management, environmental technology, environmental law, public policy, social impacts, urban planning, and more. Cover-to-cover indexing and detailed abstracts for well over 1,000 international journals, with ongoing coverage for over 500 titles, providing a global perspective on important issues.

HSTM: History of Science, Technology and Medicine
Integrates four premier tools for historians: Isis Current Bibliography of the History of Science, Current Bibliography in the History of Technology, Bibliografia Italiana di Storia della Scienza, and citations from the Wellcome Library for the History and Understanding of Medicine (incorporating Wellcome Bibliography for the History of Medicine). Journal articles, conference proceedings, books, book reviews, and dissertations in all scientific disciplines and related fields.

International Medieval Bibliography

Nineteenth Century Short Title Catalogue: NSTC
Provides an exhaustive bibliography of over 1.2 million records for the 19th-century holdings of the Bodleian Library, British Library, Cambridge University Library, Trinity College ( Dublin), National Library of Scotland, and Newcastle University Library plus Library of Congress and Harvard University Library holdings from 1816 to 1919. It covers virtually all printed materials published in the U.S. and the British Empire from 1801 to 1919.

19th Century Masterfile
The largest resource for pre-1925 studies online, with more than 60 indexes to periodicals, books, newspapers, patents and US/UK Government Documents.

ASSIA. Applied Social Sciences Index and Abstracts
Covers health, social services, psychology, sociology, economics, politics, race relations and education in over 312,000 records from 650 journals in 16 different countries. A comprehensive source of social science and health information for the practical and academic professional

BHI: British Humanities Index
BHI indexes over 320 internationally respected humanities journals and weekly magazines published in the UK and other English speaking countries, as well as quality newspapers published in the UK.

Conference Papers Index
Provides citations to papers and poster sessions presented at major scientific meetings around the world. Emphasis since 1995 has been in the life sciences, environmental sciences and the aquatic sciences, while older material also covers physics, engineering and materials science.

IBSS: International Bibliography of the Social Sciences
An essential online resource for social science and interdisciplinary research. IBSS includes nearly two million bibliographic references to journal articles and to books, reviews and selected chapters dating back to 1951. It is unique in its broad coverage of international material and incorporates over 100 languages and countries. Over 2,700 journals are regularly indexed and some 7,000 books included each year.

Index Islamicus
Indexes literature on Islam, the Middle East and the Muslim world covering almost a hundred years of publications on the world of Islam. Over 3,000 journals are monitored for inclusion in the database, together with conference proceedings, monographs, multi-authored works and book reviews.

LISA: Library and Information Science Abstracts
An international abstracting and indexing tool designed for library professionals and other information specialists.

Physical Education Index
Subjects range from physical education curricula, to sports medicine, to dance. Other coverage includes sport law, kinesiology, motor learning, recreation, standardized fitness tests, sports equipment, business and marketing, coaching and training, and sport sociology/psychology. Health education and physical therapy are also covered.
