New Web Address for Library Instruction Online Request Form

The Faculty Online Request form for library instruction from Scott Librarians has changed web addresses. You will still find the link via the Library instruction page on the York University Libraries' website; however, if you’d like to bookmark the link directly, here's the new address: http://delta.library.yorku.ca/ilbooking/ilbook_facbook.php.

If you are a course director or teaching assistant in the humanities or social sciences (or any discipline relying mainly on Scott Library resources), you can use this form to request a customized in-class presentation by a librarian to teach information literacy concepts and research skills that have been tailored to your course. You can also use the request form to arrange a hands-on workshop for your students in the library. Librarians will collaborate with you to customize the workshop or lecture to your research assignment(s) and learning objectives. We are also happy to consult with you in advance on the design of your library research assignments. A gentle reminder, however: we have a large demand for classes, particularly in the first half of the fall term, so please make your request well in advance of the desired date for your session. You will find a few notes on how best to integrate the session into your course design here: http://www.library.yorku.ca/ccm/ScottReference/faculty/policies.htm.

If you and your students rely on the support of a specific York Library, you can book library instruction using our list of librarian contacts on our Request a Class page.

And of course, another helpful option for teaching research skills in your courses is to assign the online Library Research Roadmap to your students. You can ask them to take the quiz at the end of the tutorial and hand in the results to you, so that you know they’ve completed it. The Research Roadmap is an excellent overview of the scholarly research process and a great starting point, especially for first or second year students.

For more information on library instruction or on the implementation of the Library Research Roadmap online tutorial in your class, please contact Lisa Sloniowski (lisasl@yorku.ca), Information Literacy Program Coordinator.
