Northern Journey

Northern Journey was a Canadian literary magazine published in Montreal from 1971 to 1976. With Fraser Sutherland as editor, the magazine published the works of many of Canada's best poets and writers, including Earle Birney, Gwendolyn MacEwen, Norman Levine, George Woodcock, Margaret Atwood, and others.

The fonds consists of: typescripts and photocopies of poems, articles, and design material on the journal Inner Space, the forerunner of Northern Journey; typescripts, carbon copies, photocopies, and galleys of articles, poems and prose submitted to and/or published in the journal, including the works of writers Ian Adams, bill bissett, Norman Levine, Dorothy Livesay, Fraser Sutherland, and others; editorial correspondence between the editor and authors; business correspondence regarding the establishment and operation of the journal; publicity material; production material such as mock-ups and paste-ups of issues, graphic designs and photographs used in issues; and correspondence, invoices, and sales slips dealing with the circulation and distribution of Northern Journey.
