Investext Plus
Investext Plus, the Thomson Reuters database contains full-text financial reports and forecasts prepared by the world’s leading investment banks and consulting and research firms. It provides access to financial analysis for over 11,000 companies. Useful for competitive analysis, researching industry trends, conducting market research and company studies. American, Canadian and International in scope.
Although we have subscribed to Investext Plus for many years, this summer the interface changed significantly. One of the first things you’ll notice is that Thomson One is the new ‘name’ of the database but this is somewhat misleading as Thomson One is a umbrella service that includes many individual databases of which Investext Plus is only one. We do not subscribe to the other Thomson One databases. And remember that you need to use IE for your browser. Also note that the default is 3 months so if you don’t find what you need expand the date. You will need to enable pop-ups to see the contributor reports.
Company searching is still straight forward. Just type the name of the company in the ‘Symbol/Name’ box at the top left of the screen. As you type you will see matching company IDs appear. Note that a company may be traded on more that one stock exchange so be sure to select the one you need. Also the reports are listed at the bottom after the basic overview so be sure to scroll down. Only the most current reports are listed so click on more to get more.
Searching for industry reports and trends has changed. On the left navbar select Screening and Analysis and then use the template to construct your search.
A new feature Market Views will give you Reuters news articles on global events.
