Guides to Citing Print and Electronic materials
Academic Integrity involves respecting the intellectual property rights of others. Knowing when to cite can be challenging. We have created this PowerPoint to help you understand how to avoid plagiarism (i.e. the presenting of others’ words or ideas as your own).
If you still have questions about the proper use of others’ work take this online tutorial and see if you can pass the self-test. A good rule of thumb is – if in doubt – cite it!
There are a variety of citation style guides so it is always wise to check with the instructor to see if there is a preferred citation style for the course.

The Gast Library at Michigan State University has created a guide to citing business sources using APA style that includes many of the resources that are available to York University students, faculty and staff.
York University Libraries have purchased a campus-wide license for RefWorks, a web-based bibliographic management tool (citation manager). Any current York student, staff or faculty member can access and use this software without individual charge.
This library guide is available also for those who want general information pertaining to RefWorks.
Zotero is another option for tracking your citations. This Firefox extension helps you collect, manage, and cite your reference right from your web browser. Learn more and download Zotero.
