Library Workshops

Tailored 601 Library Research Workshops will be held for the Fall Term 2012

The Bronfman Business Library is presenting a series of tailored workshops  to support 601 research during the Fall Term 2012.  To register for a workshop either email Sophie Bury sbury@yorku.ca or sign up on the sign up sheets at the Reference Desk in the Bronfman Business Library.

All workshops will be held in SSB S236.

The Workshops will be held on the following dates:

Wed. Oct. 31 5:45 – 6:45pm  Thurs. Nov. 1 12 – 1 pm   
Wed. Nov. 7 12 – 1pm Wed. Nov. 7  5:45 – 6:45pm
Tues. Nov. 13th 12:30 – 1:30pm

Wed. Nov. 14 5:45 – 6:45pm

Supporting materials including a powerpoint and research checklists have been developed to assist in your 601 research.

The workshops will be designed to help groups with secondary research as they embark on Phase 2 of the Strategy Field Study: Research and Strategic Assessment.  Resources and strategies shown will assist in diverse areas including company research, industry research, market research and financial research. Instructors will share techniques and checklists to apply when conducting research on companies within diverse industrial sectors including: 1) industrial manufacturing,  2) consumer goods and services,  3) information technology and  4) resource industries, primarily mining.  Workshops will assist groups on identifying specific full-text and numeric databases, available only to York University students, Internet sites and other print and electronic resources as well as associations, government agencies etc.

Citation / Reference Management

Workshops on how to simplify the creation of a bibliography and managment of references and citations  will be offered featuring how to use tools such as Zotero and RefWorks. Dates to be announced for the fall of 2012.
