MESSAGE: "Expected constucted PDU not found"
ACTION:
  • Disconnect from all databases and reconnect with each one
PROBABLE CAUSE:
  • One of your sessions timed out at the remote source

MESSAGE: "AG-Canada found 133352 records"
ACTION:
  • Disconnect from AG
  • Try search again
  • Record search and forward to D. Adams or H. Fraser
PROBABLE CAUSE:
  • Z39.50 search failure

MESSAGE: "Unable to get initial response – Server closed connection" OR "Cannot connect to …"
ACTION:
  • Click on OK several times to see if you can establish a connection to the server that is failing
  • Try later as appropriate
PROBABLE CAUSE:
  • Problem at remote source, e.g. all ports busy

MESSAGE: "Invalid search expression-near …"
ACTION:
  • Do not use the operators "and, or, not" in a title search, e.g. Title: Reflections on learning and living.
  • Retry search without "and"
PROBABLE CAUSE:
  • Boolean searching not supported

MESSAGE: "Server 'AG-Canada' – Search failed. Reason: Malformed query"
ACTION:
  • Clear labelled search term each time you search. If a previous ISBN remains on the screen and a new title is entered in the title search, this message may appear at the bottom of the screen
PROBABLE CAUSE:
  • Seems to only occur if AG-Canada is connected
