INDEXING:
The call no., barcode and control no. are indexed dynamically. The title is not indexed dynamically, so if you make a change in the title, your record cannot be searched by title until the next index regeneration (overnight).
SUBJECTS:
It is not necessary to include the dash between subdivisions.
E.g.
criminal law canada
canada history
SERIES:
Series are not retrieved by the title search. Search for series using one of the following icons
OTHER COMBINATIONS (F4) – Series
BROWSE CATALOG BY SERIES
BROWSE CATALOG BY AUTHOR/TITLE/SUBJECT/SERIES
KEYWORD vs. PARTIAL:
At present, "match on" options default to KEYWORD. Click on "qualify" and ensure that "match on" is set to PARTIAL before you activate your search request, unless you specifically want to do a keyword search.
DASHBOARD COMMANDS:
BACK
Takes you back to previous search screens.
If viewing a single record selected from an index screen, BACK will return you to the index.
Returns you to the screen as it previously appeared, not reflecting any changes you may have subsequently made to the record
eg. After editing, click on Display1 Item or press F2. DO NOT USE BACK – the record will not reflect the changes you have made.
START
Takes you back to the start of your search. ie. to the search screen, including your search term.
HELP
Provides information about the function on your screen.
SHARED RECORDS:
In Yorkline (NOTIS) York and Law each had their own records. These will continue to be separate in Yorkline (SIRSI). Records created in Yorkline (SIRSI) will be shared by York and Law, i.e. each will have their holdings on the same record. Therefore, because of the shared environment, when searching make sure "library" is set to ALL.
"UNLINKED" RECORDS:
Records created by Circulation and Reserves are indexed and appear in uppercase letters with an asterisk beside the author.
PROVISIONAL RECORDS:
Provisional records in Yorkline (NOTIS) with 9XX fields are converted to firm fields in Yorkline (SIRSI). Entries in 1XX and 7XX fields will have an asterisk (ie. no authority control).
eg. 100 1 *Gibbins, Roger,|d1947-
