UPDATE

A new document outlining procedures for processing DVDs is in progress with the help of Doug Adams, Jean Anderson and Daphne Clunies.

STAFF

Sally MacDonald returned to the department in July working part time for 10 weeks.

OTHER

Progress continues with the configuration of and documentation for SmartPort. A demonstration of the software for staff in Bibliographic Services and Monograph Acquisitions is planned for August. We anticipate that training will begin in September.

The Bibliographic Services Dept. at the University of Calgary shared some of their SmartPort configuration policies with us. Specifically, they shared their profiles for connecting to the University of Toronto catalog and the University of Alberta catalogue. With a pattern to follow, we were able to create the profile to connect to Laval. I would like to thank Mary McConnell who formerly was a member of this department and now Head of Bibliographic Services at the University of Calgary for their help with this.

Heather Fraser completed the necessary changes required for Smart Port to the Command List policies

Heather Fraser met regularly with Doug Fenwick, Walter Griffatong and Howard Hui during July to work on developing a "New Headings List" and to work on "globals".

Rita Carcasole made 1,132 corrections in Yorkline in the month of July. An additional 655 typos were corrected by Marsha Hall.
