Bibliographic Services catalogued 3,663 titles in January 2001.

CATALOGUE ENHANCEMENT

1096 MARC records purchased from OCLC for titles from the Elsevier Science Direct package were loaded into Yorkline. Many thanks to Doug Fenwick from LCS who created the program to load the records. Doug's program was extra special in that it included modifying the OCLC records to add certain customized MARC tags. These included our local access restriction note contained in the 506 (Access Restriction) tag, a customized systems requirement note, tag 538 whjch contains a descriptive version of the URL for the ejournal and a customized 856 (Electronic Access) tag which makes the link to the ejournal from the WebCat. Doug was able to use information from our ejournals database to achieve some of this detail. I would also like to add that Doug quickly identified and corrected a problem that was initially preventing us from loading the records into Yorkline.

Multivolume Clean-up Project: Mary Slinn and Linda Smith corrected 31 titles and 185 volumes.

January was marked by several calls to Lcshelp to service multiple departmental workstations. I would like to thank Helium Tsui and his staff for the good work they do and for their speedy and pleasant responses to our messages.

Some of the In-Process books that had been in Facilities have now been moved up to the locked mobile shelving. Thanks also goes to Paul Harrison and his staff who worked with Linda Smith to relocate the items for us.
