Description
This document outlines the current cataloguing priorities of the
Bibliographic Services Dept. at Scott Library, York University.
Librarians (4.5 FTE) includes Department Head
- Participation in management of Bibliographic Services
- Original cataloguing of current titles (
HREF="#Electronic">includes electronic resources*)
- Batchloading bibliographic records as required
- Reporting weekly cataloguing to AG-Canada and OCLC
- Searching SmartPort (Z39.50 client for cataloguing copy)
and importing records from same - Authority control
- Training staff
- Resolving complex authority and cataloguing problems
- Complex bibliograophic maintenance
- Resource to other Bib. Services staff
- Original cataloguing of gifts
- Special Projects
Administrative / Bibliographic Assistant (1 FTE)
- Maintaining complex cataloguing and library accessions statistics
- Administrative support for Bibliographic Services Department Head
- Maintaining departmental attendance records and part time payroll
- Adminstrative support for Monograph Acquisitions and Serials and Electronic
Acquisitions - Searching SmartPort (Z39.50 client for cataloguing copy)
- Dropping holdings in AG-Canada and OCLC
- Changing status of in-process to location
- Added copies
- Authority maintenance
- Withdrawals
- Bibliographic maintenance
- Locating In-Process Requests
- Searching gifts
Cataloguing Assistants (9 FTE)
- Some original cataloguing of current titles
- Copy cataloguing of current titles (includes
electronic resources*)
- Searching SmartPort (Z39.50 client for cataloguing copy) and importing
records from same - Added volumes
- Transfers
- Authority control
- Reclassification
- Locating In-Process Requests
- Training staff
- Resolving cataloguing problems
- Corrections
- Cataloguing of gifts
Bibliographic Assistant (1 FTE )

- Information desk duties (40 hours per week Sept.- Apr.)
