Reserves are materials with a short loan period placed in a separate location in the library at the request of faculty members for use of York University students. Each of the York University Libraries has a reserve section.

Hours
Reserve sections are open during each of the libraries’ regular circulation hours .
To Borrow Reserve Material
To borrow reserve materials you must have
- a YU-card and the call number of the item you wish to borrow.
Consult the Catalogue to obtain the call number of the item you wish to borrow. Take the call number and your YU-card to the Reserve desk at Scott Library or to the Circulation desks in other locations.
Loan Period
Reserve materials may be checked out at any time. One day and three day loans may be returned prior to closing on the due date. Two hour items which are checked out less than 2 hours before closing are due at opening time on the next day that the Libraries are open. Two hour items on reserve at Steacie are due at closing if checked out less than 2 hours before closing, and are not eligible for an overnight loan.
Reserve materials out on loan must be returned to the reserve section from which they were borrowed. There are no renewals on reserve materials, and holds cannot be placed on reserve items.

Fines
1 day and 3 day loans: $5.00 per day to a maximum of $100.00 per item
Hourly loans: $3.00 per hour or any part thereof to a maximum of $100.00 per item
