Scott Library Computer Classrooms

The library computer classrooms on the 5 th floor of Scott Library (Instruction Rooms 530 & 531 Scott) are available for student drop-in use. There are over 50 computers available at times during the day, when the rooms are not scheduled for library classes. The workstations are intended for individual research, writing, and other activities related to academic endeavours. The rooms cannot be booked for class use by course instructors or teaching assistants.

The rooms are normally open Monday to Thursday, 9:00 a.m to 8:00 p.m., and on Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with the exception of times when they will be closed to drop-in use in order to accommodate library classes. Students are advised to check the online room schedule for times when the room is unavailable due to library class bookings. Schedule subject to change at any time.

Use of the computers require log-in with an Acadlabs username and password. This gives the user access to the Web, as well as to Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. It is possible to save documents to one’s Acadlab file space, to a diskette, to a CD, or to a USB memory key. Printing is also available in the rooms at $0.09 per page using a library printing/photocopy card. Please note that the nearest card dispenser is on the 2nd floor.

The rooms are staffed by student monitors who will provide assistance with the computers and software.

In addition to the Scott Library Computer Classrooms, there are various computer labs on campus, especially the Computing Commons facilities in the William Small Centre and in the TEL Building, where you can write your papers or access the Internet. Many of these are available for student drop-in use all day long.
