York University Resource Centres
Introduction
There have been many changes to “Where Are They?” since the last edition. Many centres have had changes to their location, telephone number, or collection contents. Some have closed, while other new centres have opened. “Where Are They?” highlights the diversity of resources available at York. If any centres have been inadvertently overlooked, please inform Moira Scott (mhscott@yorku.ca), University Librarian’s Office, Room 310, Scott Library
Comments and suggestions for improvement would be appreciated.

This library, with about half of its material in Spanish, provides information on current social science research as well as Canadian-Latin American/Caribbean relations, particularly in political science, sociology, economics and history. A specialty of the collection is documents not normally found in libraries, such as occasional paper series, conference papers, and newsletters. These documents come particularly from social science research centres with which CERLAC is in contact.
CERLAC’s Documentation Centre was formed originally (1978) by joining CERLAC’s collection with that of the Latin American Research Unit (LARU), an interdisciplinary study group of Latin Americans based primarily in Toronto (no longer in existence). The Docmentation Centre continues to grow, mainly on the basis of exchange agreements and donations. There are periodicals in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, and Italian, including some not found in the York University Libraries. Some of the more important documents from international organizations are collected, in particular from the UN’s Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean. Human rights documentation is also available. The Centre has a book collection, purchased or donated on the basis of special research interests. It also has available issues of the LARU publications, LARU Studies and Working Papers.
Items are searchable in an electronic catalogue, and shelved alphabetically by country and subject.
