Research Instruction

Visit the Research Questions Desk at Scott Library to consult with academic librarians who are experts at helping students navigate the Libraries’ online and print resources. Bring your assignment or research question for help on how best to find, evaluate and use scholarly books, journal articles, and e-resources. There are 2 ways to get research help in person:
1. Research Drop-in
2. Research by Appointment

Research Drop-in

The Research Drop-in desk (2nd floor Scott Library) offers quick help (about 15 minutes) with your research and is on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Fall Hours

Monday-Thursday 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Friday 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Saturday & Sunday 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Research by Appointment

Book a 30-minute appointment with a research librarian and avoid the lines. Appointments are bookable online here using your Passport York account. To book an appointment follow these steps:

1. Log in to the online booking system using your Passport York account.

2.Select a 30-minute time slot.

3. Print out and fill out the information form (or pick one up at the Information Desk, 2nd floor Scott Library). Take this to your appointment in the Research by Appointment booth!
