Atlases, Books & Periodicals
Our atlas and book collection is located at the end of the map cabinets toward the back of the Map Library and is arranged by call number. There are two filing sequences: oversize and regular. Larger atlases and books that have the Library Catalogue location as “SCOTT-MAPO” are filed on the oversize shelves. Books that have the Library Catalogue location as “SCOTT-MAPS” are filed on the regular shelves.
The Map Library holds most major world atlases and attempts to acquire most national atlases. Thematic and regional atlases are collected on a more selective basis. This section of the collection also includes gazetteers, geographical dictionaries, bibliographies and cartographic reference books.
