On April 8th 2008, the Scholarly Communications Initiative hosted a symposium called the “Graduate Student Journal Symposium.” This event was intended as a discussion forum about topics related to the publishing of scholarly journals.
Here is the original description of the event: This informal event will provide an opportunity for those involved in publishing scholarly journals to meet and discuss general aspects of publishing. Topics can include such things as: the nitty gritty of journal workflow, creating and producing journal websites, maintenance, dissemination and evaluation of journal impact, publisher-author agreements, copyright issues, and issues related to the peer review and open access models.
