The scholarly communications landscape is shifting to embrace new technologies and with these technologies, new modes of publishing.

The Open Access movement is gaining momentum as national funding agencies are adopting supportive mandates. Authors are increasingly becoming aware of the fact that publisher’s copyright transfer agreements are restricting their ability to disseminate their scholarship. Furthermore, there is growing debate on how to take into account citation, access, and impact factor data from various sources.
