Borrowing between Keele & Glendon campuses – InterCampus Borrowing (ICB)

InterCampus Borrowing (ICB) is a service provided to transport library materials between the Keele campus libraries (BG, LAW, SCOTT & STEACIE) and the Glendon campus library (FROST). Please note: Materials will not be transferred among libraries within the Keele Campus.

To request materials be transferred:

1. Find the specific material you want in the York Libraries Catalogue.

  • All material must be "in library" at the time of request.
  • Types of materials you may request are books, journals (limit of 2 volumes per journal title) and microtext
  • There is a limit of 10 items per day per requestor.

2. Click on the (InterCampus Borrowing) button in the catalogue, fill in the form and submit it.

Types of material you may NOT request (for further assistance please ask at a circulation desk):

  • Reference items
  • Reserve items
  • Sound recordings, films & videos
  • Current unbound issues of journals
  • Archives/Special collections materials
  • IN-PROCESS items
  • ON-ORDER items
  • Maps

Item "IN-PROCESS" or "ON ORDER"  (XX call numbers) Requests

An In Process item will usually be available for you within 3 to 4 working days from the date the request was submitted. Once the item has been catalogued, a hold will be placed on the item and the item will be held for 7 days at the location indicated on the request. You should check your library account status to determine when the item is available.

When you place a request for an ON ORDER item, you will be notified when the item is received and catalogued (approximately 3-12 weeks). At the point of receipt the procedures for notification are the same as the IN PROCESS items.

Non-circulating items and special format materials, including periodicals, reference items, special collections, microfiche, microfilm, videos and audio CDs will be available only at the home location. You must check directly with the location.

Searches for missing books

If the book you are looking for is not on the shelf, check with Circulation Desk. If it is not on loan, fill out a Search form, which is available at the Circulation Desk. The staff will search for the item and notify you only when it is located.

Storage request

An item located in Storage will usually be available for you within 3 to 4 working days from the date the request was submitted. Once the item has been catalogued, a hold will be placed on the item and the item will be held for 7 days at the location indicated on the request. You should check  your library account status to determine when the item is available.  Periodicals will be held for 7 days at the location indicated on the request and are then returned to Storage. Items designated JSTOR in call number with location STORAGE are not available for placing storage requests since they are available electronically.
