Current Periodicals & Reading Room
Current periodicals (periodicals published in the last year) are located on the second floor of Scott Library in the Reading Room. The Reading Room is accessible to students during the regular operating hours of the Scott Library as a whole. For assistance please visit the Information Desk. For help with locating journal and magazine articles on a particular topic, please consult with the librarians at one of the two Research Desks next to the Reference Collection.
Collections & Services
Materials in the Reading Room consist of recent newspapers, magazines, and scholarly journal issues. Journals and magazines older than one year are usually shelved by call number with the rest of the regular books on the third, fourth, and fifth floors of the Scott Library. These materials cannot be borrowed. Photocopiers are available next to the Reading Room.
All materials are shelved by call number with the exception of newspapers which are shelved alphabetically by title. Click here for a list of currently received newspapers . Paper issues of newspapers are discarded when microfilm copy is received (usually 6-8 weeks after the paper version arrives).
Many journals, magazines, and newspapers are now available online (and some are available only that way). Please ask for help at the Research Desks if you do not know how to access our online materials.
