Research Assistance
Research Assistance
We provide research assistance through a variety of means:
In person:
Being a good researcher is just as important as being a good writer. Lack the necessary skills? Frustrated by a difficult essay topic? The librarians at the Research Desks on the second floor will assist you in identifying appropriate sources of information for your needs . We can help you get things moving along again!
Via email:
This service is available to York Students, staff and faculty. Answers to brief research questions are provided through the Electronic Research Service. E-mail is ideal for obtaining brief, factual information. More complex questions may need to be discussed in person at the library, but we will try to provide you with initial suggestions to begin your search.
Via digital chat:
York University Libraries’ live Research Service over the Web! This service allows you to chat with a librarian in real time to get research help. You’ll also be able to watch as the librarian shows you how to find resources on your topic. Ask a Librarian Chat Reference is presently in a pilot phase.
By telephone:
We can be reached by telephone via the Information Desk staff at 416 736-5150 during Research Desk hours. We endeavour to respond to as many calls as possible, but service to in-person patrons may mean that you will be required to leave a voicemail message.
