There will be a demonstration of VuFind on Monday 21 December from 2-4 PM in the SMIL screening room. All YUL people are welcome!
We’re having our third and final open session before VuFind becomes the primary search interface on our web site. This will be a demonstration of how it works and what the final version will look like in January. From early in the morning on Monday 4 January 2010, this will be the default search from our home page and the default catalogue all the users will use. (The “classic catalogue” will still be there. It’s not going away.) That’s a big change. There will be lots of questions.
The default sort in the search results will be by date. Right now VuFind sorts by relevancy, but we decided that for at least the winter term, until the relevancy rankings are improved, date is best.
The new version of VuFind will be in place next week:
Have a look next week and if you have any questions then come to the demonstration or make sure a colleague comes and brings your question. Or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll reply.
We look forward to seeing you there, and that you enjoy the holidays.
