Planet in Focus and CTASC

Last night, November 6th, at the Planet in Focus Film Festival opening night, it was announced that York University will be receiving the fond from Planet in Focus. This fond will include films and archival papers, and we will know more once negotiations are complete.

Mark Haslam, a York grad from Environmental Studies and Fine Arts, and founder of the Festival, made the announcement.

Kathy Elder explained the significance of the collection and how it will be made available to the Community.

Mark presented Kathy with a gift to symbolize the event, a fantastic painting by Alex Flores that was created in 2003 for Planet In Focus.PIFNov6_2014 014

And, as a bonus, :-) we were privy to the presenting of the Mark Haslam award to Ms. Alanis Obomsawin, who has directed many important documentaries, including “Kanehsatake: 270 Years of Resistance”.   Ms. Obomsawin offered some remarks.PIFNov6_2014 021
