Education Resource Centre Closing

posted on behalf of Adam Taves

The Faculty of Education has recently announced to its faculty and staff that the Education Resource Centre (ERC) will be closing by the end of June. The Libraries have been engaged in ongoing consultations with the Faculty to investigate how the ERC collections, with some minor exceptions, can be integrated into the Libraries’ holdings. Relevant subject and bibliographic services librarians are assisting with the initial assessment of what gets integrated, technical aspects of moving the ERC records into the YUL catalogue, and issues around continuing collection development. As planning and workflow evolves over the summer, other key people will be consulted. Notices will be sent to borrowers with ERC materials indicating that these items should be returned to YUL.

Such transitions can be challenging on a number of fronts. If you have questions about the Libraries’ plans for the ERC collections, please do not hesitate to contact either Catherine or me.
