Archives Canada is a gateway to archival resources found in over 800 repositories across Canada. Through Archives Canada you can view digitized photographs, maps, documents and online exhibits developed around Canada’s history and find contact information for repositories where these resources are held

Canada’s Digital Collection It is one of the largest sources of Canadian content on the Internet. More than 600 collections are available, celebrating Canada’s history, geography, science, technology and culture

University of Toronto Digital Collection These full text digital collections were developed at the University of Toronto Libraries. It includes illustrartions of the human anatomy (Anatomia 1522-1867), exploratory surveys of Barren Lands (West of Hudson Bay), online books, discovery & early development of insulin

US Collection

American Memory Collection maintained by the Library of Congress. It includes papers/communications of Alexander Graham Bell, Thomas Alva Edison, photographs of natural environments, national parks, 19th century science books and periodicals (full-text)

CalPhotos CalPhotos is a collection of 100,449 images of natural science (e.g. fungi, Plants, Protista) and cultural subjects. New images are added everyday. Also check out California Digital Library (from University of California)

Columbia University’s Digital Library Library of digitized images of papyri and ostraca (potsherds with incriptions) dating from the period 400 BCE to 800 CE. Also links to the Digital South Asia Library

Cornell University Library: Archival images of veterinary medicine, ornithological illustration of the 18th and 19th centuries, agricultural texts published between the early nineteenth century and middle to late twentieth century, links to several mathematics databases and contents of 62 math journals, Historical Monographs in Mathematics, & Zentralblatt MATH which covers the entire spectrum of mathematics including applications in computer science, mechanics, and physics

Digital South Asia Library DSAL (project of the Centre for Research Libraries) provides digital materials for reference and research on South Asia to scholars, public officials, business leaders, and other users

Michigan State University’s Digital Library Collection Books, journals & other archival material related to Applied & life sciences, Osteopathy, & Orchids

The Berkeley Digital Library SunSITE (from the University of California, Berkley) collection includes making of PCR, mapping the Icelandic Genome, and computer science technical reports

The Cuneiform Digital Library Initiative CDLI represents the efforts of an international group of Assyriologists, museum curators and historians of science to make available through the internet the form and content of cuneiform tablets dating from the beginning of writing, ca. 3350 B.C., until the end of the pre-Christian era

University of Pittsburgh’s Digital Research Library: Parallax Project was prepared by gathering the publications of the Allegheny Observatory of the University of Pittsburgh which are now digitized

Museum Collection

Smithsonian Images Administered and maintained by Smithsonian Photographic Services, the main photographic office for the National Museum of American History Bering Center, National Museum of Natural History, and National Air and Space Museum. The Office maintains an archive of over 2.5 million contemporary and historic images from these museums

San Francisco Museum Thinker ImageBase The Museum’s image collection is a fully keyword searchable database; it contains 85,000 images from the collections of their two museums
