Interlibrary loan
Interlibrary loan/document delivery requests for books and science journal articles that are not part of the York Libraries’ collection can be made via RACER. You may either create an account or search as a guest. For rush article requests, CISTI request forms are available outside Room 102P or from the reference desk.
Laptops
Twelve laptops are available at the Steacie Library circulation desk. You can check their availability by searching for “laptop computer steacie” in the library catalogue. Please note the laptop lending policies.
Microfilm & Microfiche
All Microtext collections, except Landmarks of Science, have been transferred to Scott Library. Landmarks of Science (Microcards) are located in the basement of Steacie Library.
Photocopying & Printers
Two photocopiers are located on the main floor of the library, and one photocopier is in the basement of the library. There are two printers on the main floor, and one in the basement computer lab; all printers can print in black-and-white as well as colour. Microcards can be scanned at either of two scanner workstations on the main floor.
Reference
Reference assistance is offered at the Reference Desk (416-736-5639). Reference staff members are also available for group tours and for help with specialized library equipment and software. Chat reference service is available during the day via askON, and in the evening via Meebo.
Reserves
Steacie Library maintains a collection of reserve material for some courses in the sciences. These can be searched by course number (e.g. BIOL1010, CHEM1000, etc.) or by instructor (last name) on the “Reserves” tab of the catalogue. Reserve materials must be requested at the circulation desk by call number (e.g. PCOP.2579STEACIE, QD 33 M333 2001 BOOK, etc.).
Study Rooms
There are five study rooms in the library, and they can be booked from the home page.
