YUL to take part in MINES survey on electronic resources

from YFile….
The York University Libraries will be participating in Measuring the Impact of Networked Electronic Services (MINES) for Libraries, an online transaction-based survey that collects data on user demographics and the purpose of use of electronic resources. The Web survey focuses on the use of electronic resources that are accessed via SFX or the Find it at York link. (SFX allows context-sensitive linking between Web resources in the scholarly information environment.)

The survey was developed by the Association of Research Libraries, which has a long-standing role in the development and application of performance measures and management tools.

MINES is a short five-question Web survey that is delivered at the point of use, every 250th time an e-journal or digital collection or service is accessed from Scholars Portal. It should take just one to two minutes to complete and all responses are completely anonymous.

The Ontario Council of University Libraries (OCUL) launched the survey, which will run for approximately the next 12 months.

The survey will collect more qualitative data from actual users of Scholars Portal e-resources and will assist OCUL in its efforts to improve the collections and services provided to Ontario university libraries.
