Book exhibit on Portuguese Studies

A book exhibit on Portuguese culture and history is currently on display on Scott Library’s 2nd floor. It is presented in conjunction with Portuguese Studies / Department of Languages, Literatures and Linguistics.

The exhibit includes items from the Library’s collections on Portuguese history, literature, music, culture, and emigration, and depicts prime moments in Portuguese history via text, images, maps and artifacts. This exhibit honours the inauguration of York’s new B.A. and Honours Minor in Portuguese Studies. Timed to coincide with the democratic “Carnation Revolution” of April 25, 1974, the exhibit displays posters and symbols commemorating the end of the longest dictatorship in western Europe. The Library is grateful for the assistance of the Camoes Institute in lending posters and books, as well as Portuguese Studies / DLLL at York.

The Exhibit will be on display until May 16, 2008.
