A Note about Graduate Printing

The Libraries are in the process of converting workstations to a new campus-wide print system. Workstations that have been converted to the new system will temporarily be unable to print using the grad printing quota. Access to grad printing from library workstations will be restored Sept. 3rd.

In the meantime, access to graduate student printing will continue to be available at the following locations:

Scott Library – 6 workstations in the Grad Reading Room (4th floor)
Peter F. Bronfman Library – 2 workstations
Frost Library – after Aug. 28th please enquire at Frost Reference Desk
William Small Centre

Currently the Scott Library elevator is out of service. Technicians have been called and we hope to have the elevator up and running as soon as possible.

Scholars Portal – Upcoming hardware maintenance May 24-25

Upcoming hardware maintenance to one of the storage arrays will affect Scholars
Portal services.

From May 24 at 8 PM to May 25 at 4 AM, the following
services will be unavailable:

- Journals
- Books
- ODESI
-
GeoPortal
- SCOT and SPUD analysis tools
- Dataverse

- RefWorks

The following Scholars Portal
services should not be affected:

- RACER
- SFX
- OUR
- Ask A
Librarian
- OJS platform
- WizFolio

Campus Wide Internet Service Interruption: Sunday February 17th, 08:00-11:00.

Please be aware that there will be two short network service interruptions
on Sunday February 17th between 08:00-11:00.

Each interruption will last about 15 minutes and will affect all network
traffic leaving and entering the campus.

The first interruption will affect all academic buildings, the second
interruption will affect all residence buildings.

This interruption in service is required to implement an upgrade to the
network border bandwidth capacity and introduce a new network Intrusion
Prevention system.

Libraries closed due to weather emergency Friday

Libraries at Keele and Glendon campuses will be closed Friday, February 8.
From the website: “The University has adopted Weather Emergency Procedures at its Keele and Glendon Campuses. All day and evening classes have been cancelled and examinations postponed. University offices and Libraries are closed.”

The Life and Art of Gustav Klimt: Forerunner to Modernism

Gustav Klimt was one of the central figures of fin-de-siècle Vienna, the epoch that marked the beginning of Modernism. Creator of some of the most famous Art Nouveau paintings worldwide, Klimt was also one of the organizers of the “Jugendstil” art movement in Vienna.

To commemorate the official “Gustav Klimt Year” in Austria and his 150th birthday, the Canadian Centre for German and European Studies is pleased to present an exhibit of his life and work. This exhibition, generously provided to us by the Austrian Cultural Forum, focuses on the artist by recreating the atmosphere of his era through historical photographs, biographical documentations and reproductions of his finest and most famous works of art.

The exhibit will be on display on the 1st Floor of York’s Scott Library until January 30.
