c. User Experience Group and Home page

  • Positive responses though there is need for clarification on some details on the web page.
  • There were usability testing on the web page before and after the new homepage went up. These testing goals were to discover what people do on the website and what are the ways to improve usability. Some feedback included comments that the new page is faster and ethstetically better looking.
  • “At a glance” usability was another improvement. It has improved drastically, by limiting the amount of links people have to search under.

To come: Repositioning several links for better visibility; creating several links to new pages

Discussion: E-resources and links.  News feed and newsletter/publication visibility on the web page.

d. VuFind (S. Coysh, R. Thompson)

  • Revised Vufind priorities and timing.
  • Bugs list is being worked on.
  • Focus groups with an incentive will soon begin sessions.
  • Further usability testing is needed.
  • Secretarial support is still needed for transcription.

e. Web committee membership: A call for new members is to come.

2. New business

The new homepage ‘special features’ section will show upcoming events such as Fall Reading Week Workshops. Possibilities for future special features include: rotating highlighted events, research guides, significant research tools in this feature, RefWorks, current displays, Letters from the War (Remembrance Day feature), etc. See the calendar of home page features.
