Science Literacy Week hits YUL Sept 21-25!

Join York University Libraries by attending one of three events happening the week of September 21 – 25 at York, as we celebrate Science Literacy Week! We're coordinating this along with Libraries, Museums and other institutions across Canada.

Silence of the Labs Screening
Monday, September 21, 6 - 7 pm
Paul Delaney Gallery (Room 320), Bethune College

York University Libraries in association with Evidence for Democracy and the Politics of Evidence Working Group presents a screening of the CBC documentary Silence of the Labs. John Dupuis, Science Librarian at Steacie Science & Engineering Library, will be providing opening remarks. Participants will be encouraged to sign the Science Pledge. Stand up for science in Canada!

Science Demonstrations
Wednesday, September 23, 11:30 am - 1:30 pm
Scott Library Atrium (2nd Floor)

Stop by Scott Library for a plethora of quick and engaging science demonstrations from many York University on-campus groups, including the Science Engagement Office and the York Observatory.

"Astronomy and the Extinction of the Dinosaurs" - A Talk by Dr. Marshall McCall
Followed by a tour of the York Observatory

Petrie Science and Engineering Building Room 317

What does astronomy have to do with the extinction of the dinosaurs? Come to this exciting talk, by York astronomy professor Dr. Marshall McCall, and find out! The talk will be followed by a tour of the York Observatory.
