Borrow from York

Getting a library card

All faculty members are issued a YU-card. The YU-card serves as the only library borrowing card.

Loan periods

All faculty members at York University receive 100 day loan privileges on material designated for regular loan, except materials held at the Bronfman Business Library, where materials may be borrowed for 14 days. Faculty have a loan limit of 80 items at any given time. Long term loans are subject to recalls.

Renewing materials

Materials which you have checked out, designated for regular loan, may be renewed online, as long as no holds apply, and fines do not exceed an amount of $25. To renew books online you will need to supply your Passport York information. Graduate students can renew regular material twice.

To assist borrowers to return or renew materials on time, courtesy alert notices are sent shortly before regular loans are due. Failure to receive such notices does not relieve borrowers of the responsibility to return books by the due date.

If you encounter difficulty renewing material, please contact Circulation Services at any Library branch during business hours. You can always renew materials in person at the Circulation Desk in Bronfman, Frost, Law, Scott and Steacie Libraries. Please note you must have your YU card and the books you are renewing in hand.

Fines

Fine rate on overdue stack loans: $.50 per day to a maximum of $25.00 per item.

Fine rate on overdue recalled materials $1.00 per day to a maximum of $25.00 per item.

Other types of material have different fine rates. Please see: https://www.library.yorku.ca/ccm/BorrowRenew/PayingFines
