This resource is hosted by ProQuest Infomration and Learning /University Microfilms Inc (UMI) who also produce ProQuest Dissertations & Theses (PQDT)  (formerly Dissertation Abstracts International) a database that includes dissertations and theses from over 1,000 North American graduate schools and European universities).

For York theses:

Through Dissertations and Theses @ York University, you can:

  • search and download citations, abstracts and fulltext of most York University dissertations and theses from 1967 to the present (with the exception of theses/dissertations that were not microfilmed or have an embargo of some sort.  For these, you should search the library catalogue).

For non-York theses:

Through ProQuest Dissertations & Theses (PQDT) , you can:

  • search citations and abstracts (and preview the first 24 pages) of non-York dissertations and theses.  From 1997, the full-text of some dissertations and theses may be downloaded for free in PDF format.  Please note that this service is only available to registered York students and faculty.

All York dissertations and theses are also available for consultation, in both print and microform, within York University Libraries (Law dissertations and theses are located in the Law Library, most other York dissertations and theses are located in HNES-STOR and can be requested via Storage Request from from the library catalogue.  Call numbers and locations for York disserations and theses can be found using Yorkline, the Libraries catalogue.

Theses from other institutions that are not already part of the Libraries collection can also be obtained through Resource Sharing, however an option to purchase non-York theses is provided by this host site (UMI).
