Tuesday June 3:
Opening Cocktail reception at the Mattamy Athletic Centre
Join us for a friendly Opening Cocktail reception to be held at the Mattamy Athletic Centre (walking directions from conference hotel) Tuesday, June 3rd at 17:30.
Referred to as Canada’s "Cathedral of Hockey" Mattamy Athletic Centre, formerly known as Maple Leaf Gardens, is not only a historical symbol for Canada’s on-ice claim to fame, but has also been home to twelve Canadian sports teams since first opening its doors on November 12th, 1931.
It now welcomes six Ryerson Rams CIS men’s and women’s teams. With its renovation complete, the Mattamy Athletic Centre features a full-sized ice rink that can accommodate 2,539 seated fans, a multi-purpose court for basketball and volleyball, multiple studios, and a high-performance gym. The revitalization of the Gardens promises to bring the community back into its historic home, and hopes to serve the Ryerson Rams with as much spirit and success as the many great teams before them. Prominently set in the heart of Toronto and in the heart of Canadians, we are very excited to say "Welcome back to the Gardens".
See you on Tuesday, June 3rd at 17:30 and get ready for a fun surprise!
Thursday June 5:
The IASSIST2014 40th Anniversary Gala
Come join us on Thursday evening, June 5th, 2014 at 19:00 at the Steam Whistle Brewery for an evening of fun and celebration.
- location: 255 Bremner Blvd, Toronto
- directions from the Eaton Chelsea
The brewery is located in the heart of downtown Toronto, at the foot of the C.N. Tower and adjacent to the recently opened Wrigley’s Aquarium and Roger’s Centre.
The micro brewery resides in the John Street Roundhouse. Constructed in 1929, The Roundhouse functioned as a steam locomotive repair facility. The architectural highlights of the space include large multi-paned windows, 30 foot ceilings, Douglas fir pillars and exposed brick.
Steam Whistle brews traditional Bavarian-style Pilsner, using only four natural ingredients and the skill of Brewmaster, Marek Mikunda. Saskatchewan two-row malted barley is combined with three imported Bavarian hops and Crystal Springs water to create a world class Pilsner made fresh locally.
One of the unique features of a Steam Whistle event is their brewery tours. Fifteen minute tours will take place during the course of the evening, demonstrating how they make premium pilsner and explaining the history of Steam Whistle Brewing and the Roundhouse.
Please join us and D. J. Fields for cocktails and dinner to celebrate our 40 year Anniversary.
A good time will be had by all!
