Librarians at the Bronfman Business Library collaborate with faculty to enhance the information literacy competencies of business students by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0introducing them to the best resources to meet their research needs<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0demonstrating effective search strategies<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0teaching them the value of critically evaluating sources<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0stressing the importance of citing sources to avoid plagiarism<\/li>\n<li>contributing to the course\u00a0eClass or\u00a0Canvas by providing links to online resources<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Information literate individuals have the ability to define their information needs, to find information efficiently and to critically evaluate what they have found in order to integrate it into their work.<\/p>\n<p>We have included a link to <a title=\"\" href=\"\/ccm\/BG\/instruction\/ILdefinition.htm\" target=\"\">Information Literacy in a Business Context<\/a> which elaborates on this topic and provides links to related readings and websites.<\/p>\n<p>Faculty who wish to arrange a library instructional session and\/or supporting web guide for a business program or course are advised to consult the information provided below.<\/p>\n<h3>\u00a0<b>Location of Library Classes<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><b>During the Covid-19 campus closure<\/b>, all\u00a0synchronous\u00a0library sessions will be delivered via Zoom. You can also request that\u00a0a business librarian prepares\u00a0asynchronous materials for your course.\u00a0Examples of asynchronous materials include:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/h5pstudio.ecampusontario.ca\/content\/548\">video modules<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/h5pstudio.ecampusontario.ca\/content\/9281\">self-paced modules with videos and\u00a0database\u00a0tutorials<\/a>, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/researchguides.library.yorku.ca\/fine6100\">course research guides<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>When in-person campus activities resume, in-person\u00a0instructional sessions can be provided in\u00a0S236, SSB for classes of up to 40 students\u00a0or the course\u2019s lecture hall.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>\u00a0<b>Booking Procedures<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>Please\u00a0use the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ilbooking.library.yorku.ca\/public\/faculty_form.php\">library\u2019s class request form<\/a>\u00a0to submit your request.\u00a0We\u00a0require\u00a0<b>3-weeks' notice<\/b>\u00a0to prepare an information\u00a0literacy\u00a0session\u00a0and we recommend submitting\u00a0your request\u00a0by the following dates:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For Fall and year-long classes, please submit your request by August 15th.<\/li>\n<li>For Winter classes, please submit your request by December 1st.<\/li>\n<li>For Summer classes, please submit your request by May 15th.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<p>Updated\u00a0October 2020<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Requesting an Information Literacy \/ Library Research\u00a0Session for Your Students Our information literacy\u00a0and\u00a0library research classes help students develop key digital and information literacy competencies.
