{"id":66,"date":"2010-03-05T18:26:28","date_gmt":"2010-03-05T23:26:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/yul\/bbl\/blog\/?p=66"},"modified":"2010-03-05T18:26:28","modified_gmt":"2010-03-05T23:26:28","slug":"looking-for-a-needle-in-a-haystack","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.library.yorku.ca\/web\/bbl\/2010\/03\/05\/looking-for-a-needle-in-a-haystack\/","title":{"rendered":"Looking for a needle in a haystack"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is the first in a series of posts based on the most frequently asked questions we receive via our IM chat research service.\u00a0 And the number one question is\u2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow do I know which databases are best suited for my search?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While some questions are like looking for the proverbial needle in a haystack, the answers to many research questions are readily available in the wide selection of databases to which we subscribe.\u00a0 We are fortunate in being able to have one of the best online business resources collections and we are grateful for the financial support we receive from the Schulich School of Business which allows us to acquire many more resources then would be the case if we were to rely solely on the Libraries budget.<\/p>\n<p>But back to the question of how to identify the database that will best meet your research needs.\u00a0 Since this question comes from our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.library.yorku.ca\/ccm\/BG\/im\">IM chat research service<\/a>, obviously, using our research services is a first choice for getting the help you need. Here is a link that shows you how to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.library.yorku.ca\/ccm\/BG\/guides\/researchhelp.htm\">contact us<\/a> but I know that students don\u2019t work on our timetable and unfortunately we don\u2019t have research help available late in the evenings.
