This service supports research and learning by borrowing items from other libraries on your behalf.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>WHO MAY USE THE SERVICE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The service is available to faculty, staff, and students who have a current&nbsp;York University Library&nbsp;account. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.library.yorku.ca\/web\/ask-services\/borrow-renew-return\/external-borrowers-alumni\/\">External borrowers (Alumni, Direct, Extra-mural, etc.) are not eligible.<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Undergraduate requests for physical materials are&nbsp;generally limited&nbsp;to materials in Canadian libraries.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We cannot process requests for a user whose library account is blocked.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Physical ILL items are included in the maximum&nbsp;YorkU&nbsp;patron&nbsp;loan limit of 500 items.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>WHAT\u00a0CAN BE REQUESTED<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We endeavour to procure&nbsp;books, microfilm, copies of&nbsp;journal articles, and other material not owned&nbsp;by, or are missing from the York University&nbsp;Libraries collections. Due to other libraries' policies, publisher restrictions or copyright laws, there are some requests that cannot be fulfilled through this service. Contact the Resource Sharing Department for&nbsp;more information&nbsp;(<a href=\"mailto:resourcesharing@yorku.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">resourcesharing@yorku.ca)<\/a>. Some&nbsp;items&nbsp;that are difficult&nbsp;or&nbsp;not permissible&nbsp;to source&nbsp;include:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Whole journal volumes or issues<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/copyright.info.yorku.ca\/2012\/07\/updates-in-copyright-practices\/\">Multiple articles from one journal issue, or copies of more than one chapter&nbsp;from a book<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Textbooks <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rare books and original manuscripts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Audio-visual materials. &nbsp;Email&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:imagelib@yorku.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">imagelib@yorku.ca<\/a>&nbsp;or&nbsp;consult&nbsp;the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.library.yorku.ca\/web\/collections\/sound-and-moving-image-collection-smic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sound and Moving Image Collections&nbsp;webpage&nbsp;<\/a>for&nbsp;media interlibrary&nbsp;loan information.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/researchguides.library.yorku.ca\/c.php?g=679590&amp;p=4790596\">Patents and standards<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ebooks<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>CHARGES<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The service is&nbsp;<strong>free to users&nbsp;<\/strong>with&nbsp;most&nbsp;costs covered by the library. Please request only materials essential for your studies or research. Some items that&nbsp;incur charges include:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Copies of manuscripts and other special items. You will be notified in advance of any charges that may apply.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Materials&nbsp;lost or damaged while in the possession of the user&nbsp;will incur a charge for repair or a replacement fee. This fee is determined by the lending library.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>REQUEST PRIORITIZATION<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The&nbsp;Resource Sharing&nbsp;department&nbsp;reserves the right to prioritize requests to ensure&nbsp;equitable&nbsp;service.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For systematic reviews or high-volume projects, email the&nbsp;Resource&nbsp;Sharing Team \u2013&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:resourcesharing@yorku.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">resourcesharing@yorku.ca<\/a>&nbsp;to discuss timelines and prioritization.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Items can arrive within three days but other requests will take longer. If you have time restrictions, note this in the Comment section on the request form and\/or email the&nbsp;Resource&nbsp;Sharing Team \u2013&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:resourcesharing@yorku.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">resourcesharing@yorku.ca<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Most items available from a Canadian library arrive within two weeks.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>International requests&nbsp;take longer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Requests for digital articles or book chapters take&nbsp;approximately two&nbsp;to five working days and will be delivered via Omni. You will receive an email&nbsp;indicating&nbsp;it is available with a link to download. You can also check your Omni account by signing into Omni and selecting My Requests.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>PICK-UP AND&nbsp;RETURN OF MATERIALS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Pickups are available in-person from the service desks at Scott, Bronfman, Steacie, Frost, Markham, and Osgoode Hall Law Libraries, or through the Markham, Glendon, and Scott book lockers.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Books can be returned to any York University library book return drop slot, service desk, or the Glendon book lockers. If a book band is affixed to the book, please return with the book band still attached.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Please note:<\/strong>&nbsp;Unlike books borrowed from an Omni Library partner (Ontario Universities - excluding University of Toronto), books obtained by the Resource Sharing Department cannot be picked up from,&nbsp;or returned to,&nbsp;another university library location.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>LOAN PERIODS AND RENEWALS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Loan periods and renewals are determined by the lending library.
