The fund covered a limited number of article processing charges (APC) for York researchers, approximately 20 journal articles a year.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:33.33%\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading text-uppercase h5\">Getting Help<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"list-unstyled wp-block-list\">\n<li>Please email <a href=\"mailto:opendeposit@yorku.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">opendeposit@yorku.ca<\/a> if you have questions about these changes or would like more information on our open access publishing discounts.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Restructuring of the Open Access Author Fund in 2024&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To more equitably support Open Access publishing across all faculties, YUL has restructured their Open Access APC support model and will now focus solely on consortial and institution-level APC discount agreements with publishers. These agreements provide broader APC discounts to York researchers. For example:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Libraries\u2019 APC discounts, supported through our Canadian Research Knowledge Network membership fees, covered 100% of the APC for 162 York-affiliated research articles in 2023 and allowed our researchers to save $549,061.90 USD.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Libraries\u2019 memberships in open access publishing organizations such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/pkp.sfu.ca\/\">Public Knowledge Project<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.openbookpublishers.com\/\">Open Book Publishers<\/a> supports the development of open access infrastructure and the publishing of open access books.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How can York researchers access open access publishing discounts?&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">York researchers are encouraged to review the Libraries\u2019 webpage on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.library.yorku.ca\/web\/research-learn\/research\/oapublishing\/investments-in-open-access-publishing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Investments in Open Access Publishing<\/a> to learn about our current article processing charge (APC) discounts.&nbsp;This webpage highlights:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Our APC discounts with specific publishers, including information on the discount amounts (ranges from 15% to 100% of the APC).&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Information on how to apply for the APC discounts when publishing articles with certain publishers.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Additional memberships YUL maintains to support open access publishing of articles, books, and other research outputs.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>York University Libraries (YUL) supported an Open Access Author Fund from 2013 to 2023.
