A \"guest\" is any visitor to the Libraries who is not a current York University student or faculty or staff member. York University alumni and holders of external borrower cards are also considered guests for the purpose of library computer access. <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Because our public workstations provide access to licensed e-resources and to the Internet, the identity of users needs to be recoverable if necessary.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"#indiv\">Guest Accounts for Individuals<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#policies\">Policies<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"indiv\">Guest accounts for individuals<\/h2>\n<p>Individual guests may request a one-day Library Guest Account at the Ask Us Desk in the Scott Library.\u00a0 Guest Accounts can also be obtained at the Circulation Desks in the branch libraries (the Peter F. Bronfman Business Library, the Leslie Frost Library at the Glendon campus, the Markham Campus Library, and the Steacie Science and Engineering Library). In order to obtain a Guest Account, a guest must present a valid (not expired) piece of government-issued photo ID such as a driver's license, a permanent resident card, a BYID card, Indian Status Card or a passport. An account will then be created, which can be used on campus workstations until the end of the day. A guest may use a Guest Account on most library computers otherwise requiring an File Access Service (FAS) login.<\/p>\n<p>A Guest Account may be created for a high school student if that student is at least 16 years of age and presents government-issued photo ID. For any high school student under the age of 16 or, without appropriate ID, a parent or guardian will need to obtain a Guest Account that the minor could use under the parent's or guardian's active supervision.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"policies\">Policies<\/h2>\n<p>For information on the public computers in the Libraries and the necessity of authentication in order to use them, please see our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.library.yorku.ca\/web\/ask-services\/computing-and-network-access\/computer-access-login\/\">Access to Library Computers <\/a>page. Please note that all users of library computers must comply with the <a title=\"Senate Policy on Computing and IT\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/secretariat\/policies\/policies\/computing-and-information-technology-facilities-senate-policy\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Senate Policy on Computing and Information Technology Facilities<\/a>. As well, all library users must abide by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.library.yorku.ca\/web\/about-us\/library-policies\/rules-of-the-house\/\">Libraries' behavioral rules<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.library.yorku.ca\/web\/research-learn\/academic-integrity\/acceptable-use-of-e-resources\/\">Acceptable Use Guidelines for Electronic Resources.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Guests to the York University Libraries wishing to use library workstations will need to set up a guest account for computer access.
