La Biblioteca Casita Azul

LA BIBLIOTECA CASITA AZUL

Bienvenido a Casita Azul, an education and learning space that supports York’s increasing socio-environmental research, education and community outreach in the South West part of Costa Rica. Casita Azul is a little bit of many things – part academic library, part public library, part resources centre, part community hub and very much a place for community engagement.

The vague definition is perfect for Casita Azul. It is unique and flexible, it puts people first, it is innovative and adaptable. Its starting values are around openness, inclusiveness, education, environmentalism, sustainability, and community wellbeing.

Situated in the midst of the local communities in Costa Rica, Casita Azul supports and enhances York’s Eco-Campus and Semester Abroad in Costa Rica while playing an important role in community engagement, research intensification, knowledge mobilization, citizen science, research dissemination, engagement and outreach while offering access to the online and print resources and educational programs.
