PitchBook


PitchBook is a premier platform providing comprehensive data on global capital markets, private and public companies, venture capital and private equity activity, deals, funds, and proprietary research and analyst insights.

Access to York’s subscription of PitchBook requires a PitchBook academic account. Please note that PitchBook stores your name and institutional email address. Refer to the PitchBook Privacy Policy for details.

How to Access PitchBook


  1. Connect to PitchBook via your Passport York (PPY)  authentication

  2. If your login is denied, your academic account may have expired. Authenticate via your PPY again to reinstate access.

License Terms and Permitted Use


PitchBook access is  strictly for academic and non-commercial purposes, including:

  • course assignments;
  • classroom teaching;
  • academic research;
  • And presentations and reports created for educational use.

Commercial use is strictly prohibited.

Users must register their own individual account and authenticate via PPY. Accounts cannot be shared. 

Account Expiration


Accounts expire each year on April 30th, August 30th, and December 31st. Only current students, faculty, librarians and library assistants may have accounts.

Academic Account Restrictions


Academic access to PitchBook includes the following limitations:

Data & Feature Limitations:

  • Downloads are limited to 10 rows of data per day and 25 rows per month
    (company, deal, fund, or people data). A single exported table—regardless of number of columns—counts as one download.
  • No access to Pitchbook plugins.
  • No access to fund returns information.
  • No access to data sourced from Dun & Bradstreet (D&B).
  • No access to PitchBook Support services, other than basic access troubleshooting.
  • No access to the PitchBook Help Center.
    • Students do have access to PitchBook Pioneer, which offers a full course catalog and platform tutorials.
  • No custom projects.
  • Training sessions provided by PitchBook are limited to faculty only.
